A Move Reminder (Japanese: 技思い出し Move Reminder, likewise わざおしえマニア Move-Teaching Maniac), sometimes called a motion relearner past fans, is a character who tin teach a Pokémon any move that its species is able to learn by leveling up, and from Generation Half-dozen onward, special moves that information technology has forgotten (such every bit Egg Moves). The Movement Reminder usually requires a Heart Scale in exchange for their services.
In Galar, Jack provides Move Reminder services free of charge (among other services).

Level-up moves
From Generation II to Six and in Generation VIII, the Move Reminder tin teach a Pokémon any motion that its species is able to acquire at an earlier level. In Generation 7, the Move Reminder can teach a Pokémon any move it tin learn via level-up, including moves it would larn at higher levels.
The Move Reminder tin can merely teach a Pokémon moves that its species can learn in the game at hand. They cannot teach moves sectional to a pre-evolution, fifty-fifty if they had made the present Pokémon forget that move previously. In particular, prior to Generation VIII, many Pokémon that evolve by Evolution stone have a very restricted set of level-up moves in their evolved forms compared to their unevolved forms.
Sure Pokémon may also exist taught moves via the Move Reminder that they would not ordinarily learn until a subsequently level or at all by leveling up. For instance, in Generation VI, while Lopunny commonly learns Healing Wish at level 63 past leveling up, due to also being coded to learn Healing Wish at level one (at a level at which information technology is not unremarkably obtainable), it tin can also exist taught Healing Wish past a Movement Reminder at any level. Other moves can simply be taught this way for reasons such as the Pokémon not being able to be obtained at a low enough level (eastward.g. Zapdos and Ancient Power starting in Generation IV) or the species having more than four starting moves (e.chiliad. Kecleon).
Special moves
Starting in Generation Six, Pokémon obtained with special moves often tin relearn those moves if they are forgotten. Whether a special move can be relearned via the Motility Reminder depends on how it was obtained.
Any Pokémon hatched in Generation 6 onward can relearn any move information technology knew when it hatched. This includes non only Egg Moves, simply any other moves information technology knew when hatched as well (east.thousand. level-up moves known upon hatching, Volt Tackle bred onto Pichu, etc.). Pokémon hatched in earlier generations do non flag these moves as relearnable, so cannot relearn moves of this type even if they are transferred to a Generation VI or later game.
Pokémon obtained via Mystery Souvenir from Generation VI onward may marker specific moves as existence relearnable. Early Generation VI distributions only flag issue-exclusive moves (such as the Pokémon Center Tokyo Bay Inkay's Happy Hour) and Egg Moves that the Pokémon knows when it was distributed; later Generation Half dozen distributions and all distributions from Generation VII onward flag all moves the Pokémon knows when distributed (except moves introduced part-way through that generation). Pokémon distributed in earlier generations do not flag these moves as relearnable, so cannot relearn moves of this blazon even if they are transferred to a Generation 6 or later game.
Special moves known due to being a hidden Pokémon in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire or an Island Scan Pokémon in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sunday, and Ultra Moon can also exist taught by the Move Reminder if forgotten (even if transferred to a subsequently generation). However, special moves known by Brilliant Pokémon in Generation VIII cannot be relearned.
If a Pokémon is given a battle-ready symbol, the Pokémon'southward record of relearnable moves are erased, preventing those moves from being relearned (unless they are too level-up moves in that game).
TR moves
This section is incomplete. Please feel free to edit this section to add together missing information and complete information technology. Reason: Confirm whether giving a Pokémon a boxing-fix symbol deletes relearnable TR moves |
In Generation Eight, Pokémon tin can besides be taught any move they had previously learned via TR but forgotten. This only applies if the movement was learned using a TR—if the Pokémon knew a movement that can be taught via TR, but learned it via a different method, that motility cannot exist relearned this mode.
Restrictions
Like all methods of teaching moves (other than Pokémon Solar day Care), the Move Reminder cannot overwrite HM moves.
In Pokémon XD, if a Pokémon has four moves, the Motion Reminder will non be able to teach it a move until the Movement Deleter deletes one of the Pokémon'southward current moves.

This is the only way in which Pokémon like Mewtwo can learn moves like Disable in Gen I.
